Jing Xi’s Bios
Dr. Jing Xi is an associate professor of Foreign Languages and International Management at China Three Gorges University (CTGU). Jing earned his master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from Wuhan University in 2001. He has a great interest in cross-cultural communications and, in 2007, was awarded a full-scholarship for doctoral studies at London South Bank University, United Kingdom, where he studied comparative industrial relations analysis, with a focus on the impact of culture and language barriers in multi-national and joint-venture companies.
After returning to China in 2009, Jing has worked as professor of sociolinguistics, public management,international relations and is executive director of CTGU Research Institute for Cross-cultural Studies and Employment Relations. Recently, Jing has focused on economic transitions in China, nations and regional studies, and international relations from a cross-cultural prospective.
Dr. Jing Xi is a frequent contributor to national journals relating to cultural encounters, translation practice, industrial relations and has more than 30 published papers in SSCI, EI and some compendex journals in China. Jing is also supervisor of post graduates in translation, interpretation and public administration at China Three Gorges University. He has enjoyed the rich experience of visiting more 40 countries as an interpreter and scholar since 1997.
Tian Xujun (Alan), PhD, Associate Professor, MA Supervisor
He obtained his doctorate degree in Foreign Language and Literature from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2020, master’s degree in Translation with Language Technology from Swansea University, UK in 2007 and his bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from Xiangtan University in 2000. His main research interests include Corpus-based Translation Studies, Corpus-based Discourse Analysis, National Image Studies and CAT.
He has published more than 20 scholarly articles in such academic journals as Foreign Languages in China, Foreign Language World, Journal of Foreign Language and Literature, etc. of these articles, 4 are included in the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI) and 4 in the Engineering Index (EI). He has also published a book chapter titled “The Development, Research and Application of MT and CAT Systems in China (Chapter 5)” in the book Machine Vision and Human-Machine Interface: Technologies, Applications and Challenges and translated a book, Integration of East and West. In addition, he has completed and participated in a number of social science research projects of national, provincial and municipal level.
He has worked in China Three Gorges (CTGU) for over 20 years since 2000, during which he was sponsored by China Scholarship Council (CSC) and CTGU to study in Swansea University (UK) for his master’s degree from 2005 to 2007, and was selected by CTGU and the Office of Chinese Language Council International to work at Confucius Institute at University of Texas at Dallas (USA) to work as Chinese language teacher and Confucius Classroom program liaison. He has been teaching the undergraduate and graduate students a variety of courses including “CAT”, “E-C/C-E Translation”, “Thesis Writing”, “Intercultural Communication”, etc.

JIN Haibo, Ph.D.in Law, Associate Professor, Master Supervisor,convener for Area Studies Team of China Three Gorges University (CTGU).
He had his bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from Central China Normal University in 2007, and obtained his master’s degree in French Language and Literature from Sichuan International Studies University, China, in 2010, and his doctorate degree in International Law from Wuhan University, China, in 2018. His is also a member of the Council for French Studies of China, a member of the Council for African History Studies of China. His main research fields include International Relations (IR), Cultural Security, Francophonie, FrenchSocial and Cultural Issues.
In recent years, he has published more than 10 articles in academic journals such as French Studies, Chongqing Social Sciences, Academics, etc. Of these articles, 2 are indexed in the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI) and 2 other articles respectively in the Science Citation Index (SCI) and the Engineering Index (EI). He has also translated in Chinese and published 3 academic and theoretical works. In addition, he had taken charge of 9 social science research projects at all levels, including one financed by the National Ethnic Affairs Commission of China, and the other funded by the Department of Education of Hubei Province.

LIU Yaling, female, Chinese, Lecturer in School of Foreign Languages of China Three Gorges University(CTGU), and teacher in Confucius Institute, University of N’djamena, Tchad; doctor in language strategy and language planning of Shanghai International Studies University. She mainly studies language planning and language policy, and her recent interests are concentrated in French speaking African countries.
She has published journal papers on language policy, An Analysis of the Development of Language Policy and Language Planning Research in China(2015),Development of French regional languages(2016), On the success of French language policy and its enlightenment to China(2018), Exploration on the Construction of Emergency Language Service System in Yichang City(2020), etc.
In 2020 she has written two chapiters of Translation of key documents on French language policy, commissioned by China State Language Committee, which is to be published soon. Translated in 2015 Chinese dream, my dream—seeking for human kindness into French.
In 2020, She presided over Study on French language policy, “antinomy” between monolingualism and diversity, General Program, supported by Hubei Provincial Social Science Foundation. Participated in 2019 in Study on French Language Legislation and French Norm and Protection, program supported by China State Language Committee.
In 2019-2020, she was key member of Team of Western languages et translation, and member of Team of National and regional research in School of Foreign Languages, CTGU. In 2014-2015, she collected documents and published internal articles for Research center of Foreign Language Strategies, base of China State Language Committee.
As for international conference presentations, she made speeches onAlgeria’s language policy, in International Symposium on diversified studies of French language policy, May 2019; Attitude of France towards regional languages, in Graduate Academic Conference and Summer Study, The Education University of Hongkong, July 2015.
YANG Xianming, Professor and Deputy Dean of School of Foreign Languages, CTGU. His main interest is in linguistics, cross cultural communication, area studies, especially in Sino-African relations. He has published more than 40 papers, 5 course books and 2 books. He attended and presented papers at several international conferences in the United State, Australia and Hong Kong, China.
He worked at Changjiang University, China from 1986 to 2016. During this period, he obtained his Master’s Degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China in 1993 and worked as a Lecture at College of Education, Serowe, Botswana from 1996 to 2000. He got his Ph. D. from Wuhan University, China in 2010. Since 2016, he has worked as Professor at CTGU.
