Center for Area Studies, CTGU (CTGUCAS) is a comprehensive academic platform integrating academic research, academic management, talent cultivation, think-tank functions and foreign academic exchanges. Relying on the advantages of multilingualism and multidisciplinarity of School of Foreign Languages, CTGUCAS adheres to the orientation of research and takes academic research as the main task. The Center will work closely with College of International Communications, Confucius Institute of N'Djamena University and Nepal Research Institute, CTGU so as to carry out basic and forward-looking research on major practical and hot issues in South Asia, Europe, America and Africa, especially in countries along the Belt and Road.

Based on the research foundation of International Law, Economics, Language Policy, History and related disciplines of Foreign Language and Literature in the School of Foreign Languages and College of International Communications, the center fully respects and utilizes their historical resources and existing conditions, and positively mobilizes the diversified academic strengths and long-existing networks at home and abroad. Focusing on the regional economy, social history, language policy, literature and culture of the countries along the Belt and Road, CTGUCAS will cultivate a talent group that is well-versed in the research of a country, a field or a region and whose research is highly related to the needs of the country, the actual situation of the university, CTGU and the direction of personal academic development.
